The Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding, motivating, supporting and celebrating the running community of Chicagoland. CARA connects runners to resources that enable them to run—farther, faster, better, for life.
CARA Road Scholars is an innovative approach to inspiring excellence in Chicago youth. This intervention program challenges teens to train for and complete a half marathon.

PICTURE THIS: Running a relay race, that starts in Madison, Wisconsin hopping the state line and ending in Chicago. This running event will push you and 11 pals, day and night, through 200 miles of stunning scenery in the upper Midwest. Starting in Madison, your team will head southeast toward the southern tip of Lake Michigan. The race (and your stamina) will wrap up in the "Windy City" – Chicago, Illinois. Mark your running calendars; this race is one you won’t want to miss.
What you will need to have a good Ragnar
- 12 Runners (6 runners for an Ultra team)
- 2 vans
- An average team pace around 11 minute miles (we have tools to help with this)
- The ability to provide three volunteers if you live within 100 miles of the race. Learn More about volunteer requirements.
