| What/Who is Ragnar? Many have asked the meaning of "Ragnar" and after much deliberation we have decided that it is time to unleash the secret. Ragnar was a 9th century Norse King. He was a pirate, a raider, a conqueror and an explorer. The tough, fearless, rugged attributes of this Norse King are shared by all who participate in a Ragnar Relay. In much the same way, a Ragnar Relay provides runners the freedom to roam, to explore - a free-spirited curiosity to get out there and experience outdoor adventure. And maybe even to conquer. And though tough or rugged may not perfectly describe you, these attributes become a goal - something to strive for. Most importantly, Ragnar was a wild man. In a Ragnar Relay the wild nature of this Norse King is embraced by the often-offbeat experience that happens when thousands of wild individuals and colorful personalities come together to participate in a physically demanding, all-night relay race. Who are these people? They are the ones who are not afraid to paint their van plaid, to bring along their own hair band, to paint their faces, to join together in yelling as they cross the finish line. You may think that you are not one of them, but you are. Everyone has a wild side and nothing brings it out of you like a Ragnar Relay. In the end the spirit of Ragnar is difficult to describe to those who have not experienced it. Only when you cross the finish line of a Ragnar Relay, sleep-deprived, emotional, and glad to be finished, can you understand the spirit of Ragnar. Why? Because it is in that very instant that you realize your wild side wants to continue... continue running, exploring, and conquering. Long live the Ragnar in us all! |

Featured Team - Corn Fed Beef Corn
Fed Beef, captained by Eric Clarke, decided to enter the Ragnar Relay
Del Sol after running together in the Ragnar Relay Wasatch Back in 2006.
Four of his team members initially ran in another relay in 2005 where
they caught wind of the Wasatch Back and figured they'd give it a try.
This year the team 'Corn Fed Beef' will be made up of twelve men that all work together at Northstar Financial Services Group, LLC in Omaha, Nebraska. They have recruited three more coworkers that didn't run with them last year. We asked Eric if those co-workers not participating are jealous, his response was "if they are not jealous they should be." Eric was kind enough to share his favorite Wasatch Back experience. "Upon receipt of his goodie bag Todd, one of our runners, proceeded to down the entire package of XanGo. After doing so he then read the label and found that he had just drank the equivalent of 7 days worth of XanGo. He proceeded to 'lose his XanGo' half-way through his first leg." |
