Finding 11 other teammates is not as hard as you may think. You probably
know 3 or 4 runners and they probably know 3 or 4 more. Teams made
up this way (with friends of friends) are often the most fun. By the
end of the race you'll have 11 great friends!
Here are a few tips that will make finding a team simple and stress-free:
Tip #1: Find a Co-Captain
Find a good leader who is excited about the event. Put this person
in charge of filling one of the vans. Now both of you just need to
find 5 runners instead of 11.
Tip #2: Commit Your Teammates
Do not guarantee any teammate (even your spouse) a spot on your team
until you have received their entry
form and entry fee.
Teammates who have not paid don't feel committed to train and, more
often that not, they back out.
Tip #3: Don't Wait to Register
If you have not found an entire team and the registration deadline
is approaching don't worry. You can register your team now and add
team members later. A good rule of thumb is to have 6-8 teammates
before you register your team.
Tip #4: Use the Ragnar Relay Message Board
If you can't fill your team or a teammate drops out don't panic. The
Ragnar Relay TeamFinder
is designed to match teams with runners. Concerned about having a
stranger join your team? Don't be, by the time you reach the finish
line that stranger will be your best friends.
